lady federer
Papa is so funny.
Tennis has never been a sport. I own tennis dresses but have never worn them on court. I don't own a tennis racket, nor have engaged myself in a tennis match. The only "opponent" that I have faced when I was a kid was a wall. I used my dad's humongous tennis racket to hit balls against the wall. Dad was the tennis player in the family, and I was just a mere spectator and fan.
Now, I have my own tennis racket. Dad bought me one this morning at a sports sale in UP. He bought a Wilson racket, the one that Federer uses. I laughed over the phone when I learned about it. I'm excited to go home and see my racket.
I'm sure he's thinking of fixing the abandoned tennis court at home. It's not a safe place to play anymore. We have trees surrounding the court and its roots have cracked the court. The lines have disappeared and the net pole is rusty. But I guess there's still room for a simple rally, just hitting the ball from one court to another.
This is making me want to abandon my work on Tuesday when I stay home and play. Dad will be home and maybe we could spend the morning hitting those balls. I will be the lady Federer and imagine that I'm playing at the Wimbledon tourney.
I will name my racket Mirka.
